About the Artist
Varying mediums keeps the creative journey exciting.
Alise Sheehan is a contemporary figurative and mixed media artist whose ethereal, nature-inspired work has strong elements of storytelling. Raised in Ohio within a large, imaginative family, Alise grew up speaking the language of creativity, sketching beside her mother and sculpting found objects with her sister. These early rituals laid the foundation for a lifelong artistic journey rooted in curiosity and connection. She studied at the Academy of Art in San Francisco and has been involved in Artmaking ever since: painting, collage, design and sculpture. Guided by intuition, dreams, and symbolic imagery, Alise creates layered, emotionally resonant works that explore themes of ancestry, feminine archetypes, spiritual memory, and the wild intelligence of the natural world. Her figurative art often features subtle human forms interwoven with organic elements such as trees, birds and skies, inviting viewers into a liminal space where soul and landscape merge. Life experiences continue to shape her vision, from wandering the ruins of ancient Greece, where she was married, to painting the same New Mexico light that once inspired Georgia O'Keeffe. Every piece begins as an instinctive gesture and evolves into a quiet discovery. Whether through a painted figure, a sculpted relic, or a layered collage, Alise Sheehan's work offers a contemplative invitation to pause, feel, and remember what is often unseen but always present.
